Introducing CCC's first custom knife - in final development - the Tyrdrop.
“Tyrdrop” is the cornerstone of JH Custom Blades, Hatch’s signature knife, it’s concept and design were the start of his journey from career welder to artisan bladesmith.
Tyrdrop’s unique grind brings the center of gravity far forward, making it exquisitely comfortable to hold, an excellent throwing and working knife. Tyrdrop is cast in Beryllium Copper (BeCu) then hardend and ground and honed.
Tyrdrop is named after the Norse mythology figure Tyr, who was known as the God of War, or the God of Justice, whose arm was bravely lost in the binding of giant wolf Fenrir.
"Tyr is a god of war, justice, and treaties in Norse mythology, belonging to the Aesir tribe. His name is related to Zeus or Jupiter. He is best known for sacrificing his hand to the wolf Fenrir, one of Loki's monstrous children, while the gods bound him with a trick. He is foretold to be killed by another beast, Garmr, during Ragnarök. He was more prominent in Germanic religion before the Viking Age, when Odin and Thor overshadowed him. He was mainly worshipped in Denmark."
