Jason Hatch Obituary

Jason Lee Kurtis Hatch, 56, of Richmond, Virginia was found deceased in his Highland Park home on Thursday May 7th, 2026. He was born October 16th, 1969, and is preceded in death by his father Roy Lemuel Hatch, his mother Ellen Eva (Hamill) Hatch, and his younger sister Jessica Lee Sterling Hatch. Jason is survived by his daughter Muireann DeLay, and spouse Felix, granddaughter Alice Elizabeth Hatch, former spouse Angela, dear friends Marty and Jocelyn, three maternal cousins, and others who all tremendously grieve the loss of this most interesting person.

Jason graduated high school in 1987, proudly served as a Submarine Sonar Technician in the U.S. Navy, and later settled into a productive life as a trades craftsman. Jason was an accomplished welder, an aspirational Bladesmith, a master chess player (at 2600+), and took his archery practice to a spiritual level! He loved to have long chats over hot tea, he loved to explain things and teach people, and he really loved to make things - he was very creatively expressive. Jason was contemplative, soft-spoken, and well-versed in mythology, ancient history, and philosophy - a real Renaissance Man! He also had a deep fondness for animals, especially dogs.

A celebration of life will be held at William Byrd Park, 600 S. Arthur Ashe Blvd in Richmond, Friday June 19th, 2026 at 6pm near the fountain. Friends are encouraged to don their favorite boots and bandanas in Jason's honor, and share their fondest memories.

a Robin Hood!
